Okay guys, that's the end of my basketball writing here on Blogspot. I now share Motoring Pistons over on MVN, which I think is a nice move. Traffic should increase by a bunch, that's the main component. Go check it out.

Alright, this is long 'cos I'm too pumped up to sleep :D
Some other observations of your blog from a Spurs fan perspective:
*Spurs played two very strong offensive teams, but having their efficiency drop from 1st in the regular season to 6th in the playoffs is odd. Kind of says something to me. *
Spurs actually played THREE strong offensive teams. Denver with George Karl is much better than the 82-game stats indicate at both ends.
Also, the Spurs were tops in the playoffs defensively until midway through the Seattle series, when the Pistons took over with that slugfest against the Pacers. Then the Spurs tumbled to 6th because they couldn't stop Amare and Nash.
Still, can't stop means can't stop. Give Pistons credit for stopping Miami. Pistons are a little better defensively now, largely because Nazr isn't as good as Rasho on D, and Tim's ankles give him trouble defensively.
* McDyess is better than Horry *
That is the common perception, except that it hasn't been the case in the playoffs. Horry has played more minutes and IMO has had a bigger impact. Statswise the two are actually quite comparable.
* Tayshaun's due for a turnaround / Parker's been falling apart PERwise. *
Firstly, you might not really want to look at PERs, because Billups at 19.24, highest amongst the Pistons, would only be 5th on the Spurs. PER isn't a good tool for the playoffs IMO.
Secondly, how about Tony is due? He's been getting better series by series, while Prince has been up and down.
It was strange seeing Prince struggle to post up Wade, who is 5 inches shorter. Also strange to see Eddie Jones and Stephen Jackson blow by him several times. What's up with that?
Okay, piece by piece:
1. Denver
Denver might be fairly strong offensively, but I wouldn't give them the distinction of "very" strong. Their size is unbalanced, their best outside shooter was hurt most of the year and seeing as how their best offensive players happen to match up with the Spurs' two best defensive players, I really wouldn't group them in with the other two.
2. McDyess and Horry
Well, for one, I think McDyess is better defensively. Also, while Horry's had some big games, his shooting's been inconsistent. Rebounding's nice, but shooting's inconsistent. On the other side, McDyess is consistent and is often able to help get the team out of the big scoring droughts (4, 5+ minutes) they sometimes get into. So partially by being on the teams they're on, I think McDyess is more impactful on the game than Horry.
3. PER
Alright, maybe it's not as effective in the playoffs overall, but I still think it fits with Parker. I've said before that he's hasn't been playing against awesome defenders in Nash, Daniels and Ridnour as of late. It had crossed my mind that he is due, but he's playing against a guy on the All NBA defensive second team now. I just don't see him totally ramping up the game against better D.
As for Tayshaun, I've also said before that all of the Piston starters are inconsistent and usually one shows up big when the rest can't. Tayshaun's been weak (those postups were weird last round) but if Ginobili winds up on him the majority of the time, I think there's a good chance he can correct his mistake. As for his D, he may wind up on Bowen a lot, so he shouldn't have as much trouble guarding drives there.
